Rule Changes for 2017 – All 8U, 10U and 12U coaches, referees (and parents) need to be familiar with these!
Use the two files above to print out your game cards using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. They should print out with four cards to an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of card stock.
Why Children Play Soccer (and Quit Soccer)
Do you do static stretches before a practice or game? If so, be sure to read this:
Recent studies caution people away from stretching before workouts, suggesting it actually impedes your body’s performance. According to this research, runners run more slowly, jumpers jump less high, and weight lifters lift more weakly by stretching, without significantly ensuring against injury during their exercise.

Or make up your own, like the Wingate University Warmup (just don’t do the headers!)
Adapt it to the age and skill level of your players.
And it’s always good to do some Coerver ball control drills. Pick 4 or 5 from this video and do them for 30 seconds each. Also search for “Coerver” on YouTube for videos of other skills:
Past experience is not a prerequisite to become a coach , AYSO will teach you based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of AYSO’s specialties. If you plan to be at your child’s soccer practices and games, you’ll also have time to be your child’s coach.
